Each year our students participate in several academic competitions with the East Texas State Fair Academic Rodeo, ACSI, and several other organizations. Academic competitions provide an opportunity for students to challenge themselves and broaden their knowledge by showcasing their talents. Past competitions include:
- Kinder Critters
- Spelling Bee
- Mindset Breaking Experience
- Daughters of the American Revolution American History Essay Contest
- Sons of the American Revolution American History Poster Contest
ACA students represent the school winning cash awards in Kinder Critters, Spelling Bee, the DAR Essay Contest, and the SAR Poster Contest, and several other students placing in the top three.
Community Service Projects
Each year our classes participate in community service projects that provide opportunities for our students to become active contributors to society and develop leadership skills while learning an attitude of serving. Community service projects have a positive effect on the personal development of our students by teaching them responsibility and social awareness to issues that affect our local community and the world. Past community service projects include canned food drives for the Athens Food Pantry, packing nutritious meals to send to Africa with Meals 4 Multitudes, providing food and supplies for the Athens Humane Society, and working with organizations such as Athens HELP Center, Samaritan’s Purse, and others.
Clubtastic is an exciting and fun after school club that meets the first Monday of the month. This is a parent-led initiative that was started as a way to connect our students and parents on a fun, creative level while doing community outreach projects. Each month Clubtastic features a different activity. Activities include:
- Thanksgiving crafts and dog treats for the Humane Society
- Christmas cards and ornaments for local nursing homes
- Valentine’s cards for local nursing homes
- Birdfeeders for students and for local nursing homes
- Bookmarks for students, ACA library, and for local nursing homes and hospitals
Our 5th and 6th grade students have the opportunity to begin competitive athletics two years before any other local school and compete against other East Texas Christian schools. Athletics at ACA provides a Christian environment where athletic competition is kept in its proper perspective, emphasizing sportsmanship and Christian character. ACA offers the following sports:
